Matt, There are no issues if you overdose with Sea Foam, it will not cause any problems......!! BTDT

That is a FACT !!!!!

Sea Foam does not damage anything.
been using it for decades, and I can tell you that the stuff is great, and does not hurt anything, even if you soak parts in it 100%.

I've used it with a Full Can to a tank of gas, and let the 1500s that I had idle for 1 and 2 hours to suck the stuff into the idle circuits.

both time, on a 94SE and a 98SE that I had purchased, both bikes had sat for a long time and gummed up.

in both cases, the carbs cleaned up and I did not take them off.

Thanks for the tip, overdosing on additives was always a question I had, so I shouldn't have any issue adding a full can of seafoam to my full tank? (5.5 gallons)

It won't hurt it but as I stated before it won't fix it either.

Any possible way to unplug the air jet and or air cut off valve without tearing anything apart?

I don't have a 1000 carb to jog my memory so not sure, I think the main air jet comes in from the back of the carb, on 1100s it is under the slide. Check that the vacuum line off #1 carb to the air cut valve isn't plugged.

1000 air jets (2) are under the vacuum piston and a kidney-shaped cover. Next to impossible to do on bike, but pulling GL1000 rack isn't all that hard.

Slow air jet is in an elbow on the side with rubber tube from plenum. Post-'77 supposed to be pressed in, but the '79 set I just took apart for spares had it screwed in.

You can get to the air cutoff valve after removing the filter box.

BTW, over-dose on Seafoam all you want. I know that it is not fun to drain everything to get it out once you've over-done it. Like I had to do on my neighbor's VTX1300 where he put a whole can in about 2 gallons. Once the tank and carb was drained and fresh 100% gas put in, it was fine (well, after running what was in the lines out). Seafoam is great stuff, just let me be on record saying that you should only use it at their recommended concentration.

Thank you, I coun't remember for sure but they are in the same place as 1100s. I know I have had it happen to me and have advised a few others with this same symptom and it has been a clogged main air jet in each case. No amount of fuel additive will clean out an air jet.

Thank you, I coun't remember for sure but they are in the same place as 1100s. I know I have had it happen to me and have advised a few others with this same symptom and it has been a clogged main air jet in each case. No amount of fuel additive will clean out an air jet.
Thanks for all the info! Clogged air jet is definitely sounding more and more like the culprit!
