Hi all ,,,I have been noticing of late that some members are posting one post after the other after another after another .:baffled:....Why dont you put all you have to say in one post? or if you have forgotten to put something in ,,then edit the orignal post instead of five or six posts one after the other for the same thing ...IT IS NOT MUCH FUN FOR THE REST OF US IF WE HAVE TO KEEP SCROOLING DOWN THE PAGE just to get to the end of your final post which could have been put into one post ....I will be watching so beware............................it is a different story if you are replying to other posts, that is acceptable..

If you are trying to build up your post count by doing this ..it wont work ....and you might get the title of "worst member" so have fun .....Ciaran

Here Here wexman :clapper: Not a huge problem on the forum, but there are one or two members who could be described as defaulters. :whip:

Ciaran is right, you don't have to post rubbish or blank posts to get to "Active Member" (150 posts)or "Very Active Member" (250 posts).

When you reach the required post count, your profile doesn't change automatically. As explained in the FAQ section (you should all take a few minutes to read the FAQ's as all the answers are there), I have to do this manually. Every week I check to see who is near the required post count and I change the profiles. Sometimes the members concerned might have 10 or 15 posts less than needed, but I change their profiles anyway (the targets are not exactly written in stone). Sometimes a member might have more posts than he or she needs and I might not catch them in time, or I might forget to check them on a particular week. If this happens (and it will occasionally as I have a lot to do), just send me a PM with a reminder and I will change your profile asap. I changed someone's profile tonight to "Active Member" and he had 174 posts, well overdue! So you see I do miss these things sometimes, but I'm only as human as everyone else here so I do make mistakes (forget things, lose things, break thingsetc..) :gunhead:.

I think that Redwing is so far ahead in the "Top Poster" title that there is little point in trying to chase him. Redwing practically owns this title at this stage and unless he falls off his perch and croaks prematurely, I think he is our Top Poster for life. Unless exavid catches up...

We do allow Redwing some slack with his posts as he is so helpful at welcoming new forum members and steering them in the right direction when they are searching for topics. Redwing has been around since the beginning of the forum (the old one too) and without his bit of humour andhelp I personally would have to spend a lot more of my time here.
None of us get paid a cent for our efforts, but we all do our best to help one another, this particularly applies to Vic (goldwinger1984), Paul (exavid) and several other forum members (don't be offended if I left your nameout as I'm typing this in a hurry) who have helped shape the Technical forum into a resource that I'mhappy to put my name to and be a part of. Ciaran (wexman) has been moderating the forums daily since the start and he does a great job of it, it can't be easy doing this every day. His diligence has been a major factor in keeping this message board from following the path to self-destruction that some other Goldwing forums have hurtled down in recent years.

I'm wandering off a bit here, the point is that if you see you post count nearing 150 or 250 or if you see someone elses post count going past the target without their profile changing, just send me a PM and I will look after it. :waving::waving::waving:

What if he falls of his honda 50 and shep croaks ?or what if the neighbour discovers that redwing is actually hooked up to his phone line ?and disconnects the line ...Or what if he comes to dublin for the interview as guru and he gets lost for a few months ...So redwing ...do up a load of posts and keep them on disks so if you are out of action myself or steve can still post for you until you get your new teeth in ...:D:D:D:D:D.

One of my biggest peeves with the GWRRA board was just this. Seems like many of the posters are in some sort of race as to who had the most posts. And when their post count got reset, you shoulda hear them whine. There is so much crap on that board because of those posters. I'd prefer to not see that here.

Personally I never could figure out what the big deal is about your post count:baffled:

If you have something to say (err type) than say it...Who cares if you posted 500 posts of gibberish or 5 posts worthwhile:p

Your post count is as important as your mana count. It's obvious if you don't have lots of both your hair will fall out! Come on guys, the whole thing is a joke. Lighten up! Posts and mana have been objects of fun forever around here.

Huh! Never thought of that.:grinner:

Oh crap, you guys had me going on this one. (sorry exavid I violated your copyright again Let me know what the royalty charges are. I would rather owe it to you the rest of my life than cheat you out of it)

I guess we all post a bit of rubbish now and again (apart from Redwing who does it all the time) but I seen the posts last night that brought up this matter. It was 12 posts in a row by oneBB and all he had in each post was 140, 141, 142, ie it was a countdown to active member. Now that was a real waste of a page and it could have started a trend. In that respect I'm glad it was stomped on as it was just abusing the space on the page. I don't think the average poster who inadvertently posts something useless is at risk here, only people manipulating post counts by daft means. Deleting those 12 posts is a good move as it discourages more of the same.

And as for Redwing retiring from the forum, well thats rubbish for a start. Redwing will never retire! :p

A bit of rubish is fine, we all do it sometimes. We don't want it getting out of hand though because that's exactly what ruined the GWRRA board. So much rubbish being posted for a high post count that they've been limiting the number of pages on the forum for a long time. Quite often when you look for an old thread on the GWRRA, you get a dead link because it's been canned to make space for the latest rubbish. That's a real shame and I for one don't want to see it happen here. I've been browsing here quite a while before registering and I noticed that this forum keeps all the posts right back to day 1. I would hate to see this change if too much crap got posted just for the sake of a high post count. Never could see the point in racing for a high count anyway. :waving:

Don't be too harsh on BB, or anyone, I don't think he intended to offend or really wanted the post count to get him to active member. I totally agee that it should never be allowed to just become a junk room for idiots, but I recon the good humoured banter would be sorely missed if it was excluded. I for one am mainly on here for that and enjoy the postings of folks like Brojees, Redwing and a host of others. Black Bart intended only to entertain I am sure, just look at his other postings, anyway I have said enough on this,so I am off to enjoy a nice rabbit pancake!!

Ride safe and enjoy life whilst we have the time!!
