I’ve been a lurking member for 13 years. I’ve almost pulled the trigger on a few occasions . Again looking at a wing but I’d thought I would turn to the wisdom of this great forum. I am An “0ld” motocrosser. I love naked wings. I have found a 1979 GL1000. It has 11k on the odometer. Looks pretty clean in the pics. I’m guessing it’s a barn find. They are asking $750. I offered $500. other Than being dirty I don’t see rust. What is she worth? Am i splitting hairs?

It's going to need tires, carbs will probably need rebuilt, all fluids changed, battery replaced, calipers and master cylinders rebuilt. . A lot depends on the last time it ran. Parts are near impossible to find for one that old. 44 years with 11k means its been sitting a long time.

Having all that Vetter stuff on it reduced what I would give for it but it looks pretty complete otherwise except probably missing the headlight and front turn signals. Price is probably not that bad.

How good of a mechanic are ya?

I doubt you will want to spend $125.00 an hour, or more to have someone else work on it, if you can even find a shop that will.

Also going to need to replace cam belts. before revving it up if it does run.

Could be a cool bike with the bags and fairing removed.
