I have bneen messing around with some sportster pipes and after no luck withthe poipes and lucky having a friend with roadking pips I made a good swap. Everything works fine so now I have been searching for a muffler shop to bend and cut me some pipe to not only look cleaner but preform better than flex pipe.
1 meineki quoted me $70 for the pipes while anothe rmeineki told me what he really thought.
He picked my repair apart telling me how my job looked crappy and the only way to get that system looking good is for hiome to bend cutand weld everything together with only the muffler being clamped with gaskets.
He quoted me $120 for taking them off prepping and finishing the job. The only thing I would have to do is paint or take them to get coated.
After teh initial $709 quoted for pieps alone I think $120 for the whole job is fair.
I would not use a meineke muffler if it was the last place available. I work for a fleet management company and every time we deal with them the initial quote end up costing twice the amount. If you do have to deal with them make sure you can keep it away from the service advisor up front.
When I did my Road Kings (GL1100), I made a pattern the shape of the pipes I needed and took them to a muffler shop. I had already purchased tailpipe extensions( heavy gauge metal )where they bent them for free!!! My lucky day!! I wielded them to my header pipe and clamped the muffler! This way if I need to take them apart I can!!! Different model GL, but same method!! You might be able to use the flex hose as apattern for them to make a pipe extension!! Hope this helps!! Bob
