It does sound like the nut wasn't properly secured.I had to replace the seals on my 416s after around 25,000 miles, I have 5,000 miles on the new seals and they are hanging in there just fine now. Just be careful putting the new ones in, masking tape on the eye end of the piston shaft, a little moly grease in the lip of the seal and a good lube of ATF or whatever oil you use on the shaft will go far to protect the seal. Those seals are delicate when assembling. Try to keep them square to the shaft when you push them down too.

I hope that doesn't happen to my 416's. What an improvement over the oem's!

A bean burrito for breakfast? No wonder he was smelling something! :goofygrin:

Please keep us posted as to what Progressive's response is. I am looking into purchasing the 416's for my 84 Aspy and would like to know how they handle a problem like this.

On the Prog. 416's do they just hook up to your factory air line as the OEM's do or do you need some sort of adapters to install them?

They hook up to the factory airline before it splits. The adapters should come with the shocks or possibly are an additional kit. Easy hook up.

On my 83I, I didn't read the part about the adapter for my stock setup. I ran the new lines up to the catch basin for the gas tank filler nozzle. I like my adjustment to the air line routing as I made as smooth of radius as I could. I made sure that my new air-lines were safe from sharp edges. I also put the Progressive lines inside some clear tubing to give them a cushion from edges. It's easy to get to and you don't have to remove a side panel to service the system. I can sit on the bike and adjust the pressure as I need to.

My .02 worth.

Those thing black plastic lines that Progressive usesare very tough and pretty thick walled too. The only drawback I find is that the pressure bleeds off pretty slowly when I reduce the rear pressure after a passenger gets off.
