So, Sunday afternoon I finally got around to putting new timing belts on my 1100. I may have been seeing things wrong, but it appeared that the old belts were off by 1 tooth. Anyway, I put the new ones on correctly and then changed the spark plugs. Bike runs really good now, much quieter and much more power. Yesterday I took it on a short road trip (388 miles) and it never hiccuped. I also averaged 38 MPG at 75. I had been averaging 32 MPG at 55. Thanks to all for the great advice and how too's on this site. You gave me the confidence to do everything myself.

Good for you. I love to hear success stories. From what you said about the timing being off one tooth and now you get better mileage I'd say you actually improved it. They will run one tooth off but not as well as it should.

Well done it sure feels nice knowing now you have some miles and years until you have to worry about them again. :)
