the tire size my book calls for on my bike is FRONT 120/90-18 65H, REAR 140/90-16 71 H. i currently have Dunlap with these numbers. FRONT 90-18-71 and REAR is 90-16-78.

my question is which number should i use to order new tires and does anyone know a good place to order tires online. i would prefer Michelin or any company owned by Michelin. any help would be appreciated

the book im referring to is a clymer manual

The "standard" numbers in the book, 120/90-18 65H, are being replaced by the 90-18-71 style number. The bad part is that even though manufacturers are using these number, they are not doing it for all their tires yet. So there is a mixture of sizing.

You can order either way....whichever the tire sizing is determined by the maker.

The new number usually begins with 2 letters, an M and another letter and usually an R stands for Radial which you can't use. But they have MT, MU, MV which is I believe is acceptable for your bike. www.americanmototire.com has Michies.
