quick ?? - are '80 front calipers same as '82 fr calipers??

82 calipers are 2 piston design like 83 . There are mounted differently . If I recall you can put the 82 calipers on your bike if you get the mounting brakets with them . Might also want the 82 master cylinder because of needing to supply fluid to 4 pistons .
I dont know if the rotors have a different offset ?

my 82 came with single calipers up front. swapped them with duals from a later year model, with master and it was plug and play. onawing is right, you have to swap mounting brackets too but there is no rotor interference on mine.

I have an 82 with 2 pots calipers, are the 80s single and totally different?

Yes as stated above, the 80-81 calipers are single piston and completely different but can be used if the mounting brackets are changed also.

The 1100s seem to be experimental animals for Honda brake designers. None of each year of the model had exactly the same set up. You really have to pay attention to what you order when getting brake parts that you order for the right model year. I'd advise not ordering from Saber Cycle either, they supplied non-fitting parts to me on an order for '81 brakes on an 1100 and refused to take them back. The fact that the piston was larger than the cylinder bore didn't faze them, they told me they'd sold hundreds of the set I ordered an my 1100 must have had non Honda calipers on it.

At my age 2 1/2 hours is quick.

It would certainly help if you gave some info why you need to know!

Do you have both 80 and 82 parts? If so which bike do you want to put which parts on?
Do you just have an 82 with bad parts and need to fix it and trying to win some Ebay deals fast? LOL

If you need a front 82 braking system so you don't need to cobble things together I got a full front set from rotors to bars, also wheels etc..

Thanks Chromo. I have stripped my calipers on my 82 (2 piston calipers). I have yet to dig into the rebuild with my seal kit, though, and the prev owner said it sat with empty (dry) front brakes for a year and a half. I was just curious because I thought I had a line on a set of working 80 calipers on the cheap. However I now know that the 80s are single piston calipers and mount differently, whereas mine are dual. I'm going to rebuild my 82s and hopefully put on some SS lines when done. I have all the parts there as the bike is complete, so not cobbling anything together.

Hopefuly my calipers aren't totally frozen. If so - I may hit you up for them..
