On the trip to South Dakota in June I encountered lots of wind blowing lots of sand, and then lots of rain on the way back. The Honda logo on the fairing front took it the worst, so, out of curiosity I filled in the "O" with a permanent marker to see how long it would last. Seems it is doing pretty well, so I went ape on it.

The "O".

In order to keep the over-inking under control, I took precautions. Given the condition of the test subject, I was cautious not to be overly cautious.

And after a back breaking, mind numbing marathon of nearly 20 minutes, I had this:

Yeah, it could be done better, but the gold is bubbling so, no matter how good I do it, it will never pass close inspection. And it really does look okay from a few feet away.
And, most importantly, it looks perfect from the driver's seat. .🤪

Looks good. I did about the same thing with 'HONDA' letters on the valve covers. Used semi gloss black paint and a tiny paint brush.

The ride home from Custer was awful "blowy", no? Prolly just as bad on your return trip thru NE as ours returning thru WY on mostly same path as going to Custer.

I'm, sure Bike likes the extra "shine" :D

my daughter and I well remember the high winds on the trip to Custer, SD as we went through KS and NE.
Wx reports were in the 40 to 50 mph range....
going west, the Suburban and RV tried to ride the ditches,

was grateful when we could turn North and have a Tail wind to push the 'burb for 2 extra MPG.

Coming home? absolutely miserable, there were no "Favorable Winds"

Could never live out there due to the wind. Stopped at gas station and asked young man inside, does it blow like this much? All the time he said! I drove at about 10 to 15 degrees from vertical all the way to Kansas City. Maybe 20 at times!

Good places for the wind generators? Lots of them around here.
I was fighting the strong winds most of the way while blasting W/B to Custer along the bottom of South Dakota. Going home E/B didn't seem to be as bad but that was after spending a few days in Cody, WY after and winds seemed to have died down a bit

Okay, it shows up for me in everyone else's profile, including yours. What am I missing?

John. is there any way that new members could be reminded to fill out the signature line? I know you can't force them to do this, but that info would make it easier for other members to help them.
AND some of the older members!!

the folks up in Canada who maintain this forum, have refused to fix that very situation since Day One.

I immediately complained when we first were introduced to this Xenforo mess to do that very thing.
Steve Saunder's software enforced that, if they did not fill out the profile, they were not allowed to Register.

Sounds like Canada has different privacy rules and are pushing them on us. Is there any way to let new users to PLEASE fill out the signature line. Maybe a sticky on on the register page, if that is not part of VS.
I know some users would rather not show personal information, but year, model and City do not compromise their identity.
Just makes it hard for anyone to respond to a question. Even asking the OP for that information does not help. They don't put it in further posts.

IT Team refuses to modify our software, they have well over 1,000 forums now, and they are all straight out of the can, except for the headers and nominal Setup Features that they are able to use a CHECKBOX

Thanks again John. looks like we have to keep reminding posters about year and model. I know I've passed answering a few because of this.

I have made it my 1st Priority to watch the postings to see if the Header or the post indicates what bike they own.
when I see that, I then modify their profiles to put that info where it belongs....

I will NOT make any exceptions for this, you will post your info, or I will do it for you

I'm glad I have mine on my avatar and signature line. You're tough!
Though I agree with location and model I am going to veer back to point.
Dennis the touch up work on the nameplate is a great improvement !
