Quietest tires?

Can anyone comment on what are the quietest front tires to use on my GL1500A? It came with Dunlops, they wore out and I have been using a Shinko for the last 4000 miles. It has always been very noisy - lots of hum, no matter what the pressure. Thanks!

I’m happy with E4’s

I just talked to my Honda dealer the other day about Dunlop tire availabity for the coming year. I will be looking for a set in the spring for my 2006 Gold Wing. He can fix me up now, but not if I wait too long. He just got some tires in he ordered a year ago. $575.00 for a pair, plus $100.00 to put them on. Sound about right? I do NOT take off, and mount my own tires. Barely enough room in the garage just for parking.

Sounds like robbery to me.
Wonder what other 1800 Gold Wing owners have paid recently to have a set of Dunlops put on then. I`m sure the prices just keep going up and up.
$35 for a front wheel, 3 years ago
The Cooper LT load range E tires for my truck have gone up over $100 each in three years.
Dealler price is $250.00 for front, Dunlop tire and $325.00 for rear just to buy tires to put on. I suppose mail order places are cheaper, if they even have them..
It's been a while and the front tire I use has about doubled in price since I bought the last one.
The last ones I bought from my dealer 2 years ago (E4's) were under $300 for both front and rear. They only charged me $25 a tire for mounting since I took the wheels in.. No extra for balance, reused my weights.
I always buy mine from the dealer. No problem with warranty then. Buy them onilne and pay for return shipping and wait weeks for replacements. That happened to one of the guys I ride with. Plus he had to pay for dismount and remount again. Ended up costing more than buying them at the dealer.

I use Avon Cobras on my 89 GL1500 and they are quiet, last a long time and Handel well. I took the bike to Two Wheels of Suches in the Ga. mountains pulling a trailer with water and leaves on the twisty roads and never lost traction.

my personal experience for what its worth, quietest combo I have found is a 130/70-18 kenda catalysm and a 175/75r16 car tire on rear 16000 miles still look great and quiet...like I said just my personal experience
I used Metzlers a lot over the years. I always got great mileage on them, both front and rear. The down side is they are fairly loud for the first thousand miles. They eventually quiet down except for leaning into curves. I never wore the sides down enough.
When we switched to the Dunlop E4s....they were much quieter than other brands, and even the E3.
