Hi Everybody !After months of struggling,I had my radio Panasonic RM 1100 fixed ( thanks to Neil for sending me the Service Manual ).The tape does not work but it must be good enough for Africa....

With the engine off,it works well,it looks for stations and it has good reception. When I start the engine it does not work,it makes a noise in the spickers and you can hear intermitently. When I turn engine off it still mot working unless I press the mute level buttontwice on the radio;then it plays well again. The spicker`s connections are "home made",it looks like the previous owner had problems too !

I have 4 wires from the spickers, gray and red, gray and black. There are four wires from the amplifier, also gray and red and gray and black. It seams logic to connect them bycoresponding colors but it does not work.Do I need an earth somewhere?

Can you help me without sending me to the specialists ? Here are`nt any!

Brian, you are right, the way it should be is to take the bike to experts. In Cape Town there are no shops to help you;we have Audio Shops ,they install radios,cd`s,alarms, but on cars only and if they supply the systems or if you buy it from the market, new and with instalation instructions. There are a few guys installing alarms on bikes but they do not have an electronin background.

I cleaned the big plug behind the radio and I bent slightly the terminals to have better contact.

Now the radio works with the engine off or on but when I move ( ride) the radio stops working.I still can find stations but no sound. That is the big question.

Thank you,

Lucian
