Update

Just figured out how to get these rare bags on here

they are called "the bags",

By accessory engineering inc

out of white bear lake michigan

ever heard of them, me niether!

they are easily removeable with the turn of a key

the trunk is called "the trunk"

same manufacturer

i'm a newby,i just purchased a 81 Gl1100

I think this thing is rare.

it came with the honda line fairing and hard bags

nothing special about that

however, this bike has a two piece seat anda adjustable sliding trunk

thefront seat is on a hinge and lifts over, the rear seatjust slides off

and the trunk slides up to thedrivres position for a very comfortable riding position

I've researched this on the web and can find no mention of a two peice seat nor an adjustable trunk

notice the body panel that the rack, passenger seat and trunk sit on

its one piece from the tank all the way to the tail light

i emailed Craig Vetter about this to see if it was his design and he returned my email the next morning, he says its not his and he has never seen it.

never seen an add for it and does not have any knowledge of who made it

he seemed excited about its existance.

and wants me to dissasemble it and look for more clues to its origin

that being said im not interested in selling it at this time

just wondering if anyone has ever seen this set up before

Craig Vetter said its evident that someone tooled up to make these but it has never been to market that he has knowledge of.

anybody?

oh, I forgot to mention $100.00 from aguy who needed it out of the inlaws garage
Go Figure?

work done last week

clean carbs

rebuild brakes

and a lot of detailing so far, stills needs plenty more

took it for a ride today everything working except the nuetral light, stays on

and cooling fan, might not be getting hot enough yet

runs strong compared to my 79 gl1000

corners a little strange compared to the 79 as well, could be front tire, is a little questionable

electric fan doesnt seem to be coming on is there an easy way to test this?

if you think its rare, I'd like to know,

thanks in advance.

what do you guys think?

pretty cleverpretty clever set up for sure

very well done looks like it could be factory

the body panel is the same as the side covers in its construction

i like that you can lift the drivers seat slide the passenger seat off put it in the trunk and slide the trunk up, all inabout 30 seconds

Can you try keep all this in one topic? No need to start a new topic every time you upload a picture. Keep them all in one topic instead.

I've merged them all into one thread for you bikeblaster, if you have more pictures of that unusual please post them in here.
I've never seen a GL1100 set up like that.

I've seen similar before, but nothing done quite that well.

Nice find.

That's not a Hondaline trunk for sure. Anyone have a guess as to what it is?

I've seen the trunk before, or at least a very similar one. But I've never seen one with the rest of the custom bits.

Kool.

The front directionals and are not original. Hard to say without better photos. Maybe mod.s for a police bike?

Looks like an early Bates set-up, but I don't know about the slider part.

A very well done modification.

Absolutely keep all of your posts on it in this one thread, that setup is a rarity for sure.

Likewise, I have never seen one like it.

Never seen one like it either, you might want to see how far back you can trace the ownership....Might get lucky and find the original owner?????....Tour box either Bates or Califea (misspelled), It is about the size of the old style Harley tour boxes...Police mod Yeah I would buy that ......

...never seen it either. Interesting.

Looks like the bags drop down as the trunk slides forward.

Would like to see a video of that in operation.

Don't know if the trunk itself is anything special, but that sliding seat/mechanism is sure unique.

Nice find.
