Rear shock removel

I am new at removing rear shocks on my 85 goldwing. the right side came off easy.
Left shock will not come out of bottom location after removing the bolt.
I tried pulling up on the shock with no luck. Something is holding it, could be the rubber bushing or something. I can't see anything that looks like the reason.
Any one had this problem?

the rubber bushing could be holding it in place, also, there is a metal ferrule in the center of the bushing that may be displaced slightly, jamming up the works

is it the weight of the back tire on the shock? jack the back tire up to relieve the pressure.

Thanks for that.
I also think the sleeve inside the rubber bushing is at fault. Problem is how to move it back in place so as to pull the shock out.

The bike is on the center lift, so as of now the Wt. is off the shock. Will keep trying as bike week is coming too NH next week and here I am with this shock problem !!!

I always have problems with the left shock jamming in place.

If the rear of the bike is high enough, force the swingarm down either with some form of lever or a small bottle type jack between the swingarm and a solid part of the frame.

It shouldn't take too much pressure to pop out the shock from the boss.

Thanks Johno, for that info. I will try it.
That shock must have been a tight fit in that recess area when first installed by a dealer 4 years ago when I had new tires put on.
