How do I tell if they need replacing? When my wife and her gear are on the back (about another 10 lbs,I weigh 205 so 400 total, tops) the center stand and rrear mudflap scrape the ground allot.Filling the shocks up to full capacity doesnt help.Do I need new shocks maybe?

What kind of Wing is this?

You may need to go to "Progressive shocks"?:baffled:

My '85 does the same thing. I an going to try changing the oil in the shocks first, if I can stop riding it long enough.

Its an 85 Aspencade.I ride it and have no problems, but riding with a passenger seems to make it rub.

Progressive shocks, but they're not cheap!

there are straight non Air-shocks also available?

It sounds like the OEM shocks are history. It is possible to rebuild them but listening to the group on this board, the results are mixed. I replaced mine with Progressives and am very happy with the results. I ride by myself with no air and with a passenger 10 lbs of air.

Progressive's web site is not as helpful as it once was but they answer emails and the telephone and are always very helpful. Be sitting down when you hear the price.

Anyone have a ballpark figure on the Progressive Shocks?

I bought the Progressive 416's($327.95) and the springs($59.95) formy83I through http://www.vencowings.com . The stock shocks wouldn't keep us from bottoming out even though I had 50lbs of air in them. Prepare yourself for a much firmer ride.

I just checked at Venco and the rears are now $375.95.:(BTW, this doesn't include shipping.

Also, although this isn't related to the shocks, the SS brakelines made by Paragon doubled in price when Venco started carrying them. Hmm. Unfortunately, Paragon has went out of selling direct to customers. Bummer.

Thanks Hobie..I think I`ll hold off til winter to change them.

Mr1200 is right about teh 416's, the Honda shocks just don't come anywhere near them in ride performance.
