i've empitied the oil out of my rear shock's, 1980 gl1100 anyone know what kind of oil goes into them, is it hydralic , transmission fluid?

Most of us, but not all usually go with ATF in the front forks and the rear shocks.

thank's, i am on medication today so i can't spell crap

part of my owner's manual is missing, i assume it's somewhere in the missing part..............

I know most won't believe it but most haven't tried it. Going to a heavier fork and shock oil, like a 15 weight will improve the ride and handling. I used tractor hydraulic oil which is about a 15 weight for the forks and rear shocks on my 83 and it rode much better. I put it in the forks of my 1800 and it rides better, corners better and the anti-dive works better than ever. It's like putting heavy duty shocks on a car or truck.

The rear shocks hold 12.5 oz each.

Yeppers, that's right, I looked it up in the manual after I posted above about the manuals again.
