Does anyone know if the rear air shocks from an 84 or 85 will fit the 82's?

I would say probably not because they are two totally different bikes, you could measure the length between the eyelet and see if they are close.

They always looked the same to me. Better check the lengths.

1100's are 12.5 inches eye to eye, 1200's are 14 inches eye to eye according to Progressive's fitment guide.

with this you can compare original OEM part numbers and then you can see which makes/models used the same parts.

So.......by doing the research I can confirm that GL1200 shocks will not fit GL1100.

Yes they will fit ,but you have to rebush the upper bolt hole connections. It will also raise the ride height. :waving::waving::waving:

By raising the bike will it sit level?

I am not sure if the bike will sit level but I have taken a set of 1100 shocks and put them on a 1200 to lower it a little and it worked fine.

In other words, they aren't the same shock, but if you want to put them on and work with it then anything is possible.
