Whats up! I'm new to the forum, but i"ve got a leaking rear shock. My manual says take it to dealer for rebuilding because there is a special tool needed. I've never had it off yet so I was wondering if there was a way to keep from taking it to the dealer?? Any tips would be appreciated.

Just replacing the seals is pretty easy without any special tools. There is a tutorial in the ref/faq forum on rebuilding them.

WelcomeT-birds 84 asp to the best site for Wings

Can anyone tell me how much resistance the 1500 air shock absorber should have when of the bike with no air in the system and no fluid as well mine is very easy to push in and pull out, (no rebound or compression at all).

I am also on replacing the seals but if the shock is shot there is no point.:(:(

That's normal, the air shock is just that, it acts as an air spring so without air pressure the piston moves easily up and down in the shock.

I just don mine, on my 82 1100I. I left them upsidedown over night to drain the oil out. Dont wast time wating for oil that is not coming out. If you turn them upside down and pump them in and out you may get the oil out. After I maid a mess, I what the hay a littel more will not hert.

Good Luck
