I've just taken the rear wheel off my '83 GL1100I to replace a thin brake disk. While I have it off I will be changing the bearings also and inspecting the final drive gears.

When I took out the axle to remove the wheel, two little spacers fell out of the left side. Now, I don't know exactly how to replace them. They must go one each side of the brake caliper bracket, but they are different from each other and each has a shoulder, so it matters which way round they go.

Can anyone help me here?

Thanks,

Gilbert

I know what you mean. It's a puzzle. use the dirt marking on the spacers as a clue when putting it back together. Where the spacer is recessed it will be cleaner.

I had to do some trial and error once.

The one with the shoulder fits nearest the wheel, narrow end actually fitting into the seal. Can't remember the other one.
