:(Stopped to get gas on road trip. Reading 8volts or less, normal readingaround 13 volts. All gauges and lights were less than dim. Battery good, can push start only, will run for 10 minutes then stops. Clicking sound from the unit (whatever it is called) by battery, but that unit is new and re-wired and packed w/dielectric.

Read so much on stators/alternators totally confused. As I understand it for this year and model the the most likelyproblem could be the rectifier/regulator, is this correct??. In summary the consensus seems to be all electric is running straight off the battery. The rect/reg islocated on the left pod?? Is this just a swap out of the this part? $200.00 quoted price. I have4 days before another planned road trip. Is it just this simple? Please advise and much thanks,ANY info will help. Have a time problem here. Thanks guys!!!

You need to check the alternator first, ie the three yellow wires coming out of the back of the engine and before they reach the regulator. Regs tend to fail open, ie they fail to regulate the current and you end up getting 16, 17 or 18 volts going into the battery and the headlights glow really bright before blowing bulbs etc. The reg can fail the other way as well but it is rare enough so check the alternator first as its an easy 5 minute job.
