reed valves 84 GL1200I

In the process of randakking the 1200's carbs. Took the reed valve chamber apart to clean it. There are four reed valves and I may have gotten them mixed up. One is stamped 5A23 another 5B22. The other two on the other side the white lettering/stamp is all but worn off. Do the four reeds have to go back where they were or they all the same thus interchangeable? At this point I have no clue where any of the four were originally seated.:(

From what I remember, the ones on my 1200 were all the same. There should be some exhaust stains to show which side goes down.

Thanks John. It's plain to see how they install. My only query is if they are all the same. They appear to be the same but seeing the different numbers white lettered on the two that I could make out threw me. I tried to find a part number for them. Local dealer doesn't list them. I think you have to buy the whole assembly which with tax is around two hundred bucks so I'm not going with that option. Besides, the carbs only have around 37k miles on them so they are in nice shape. They just need to be reconditioned.

Thanks William. Well that's two to zero. Woohoo! Now where's that kettle for the distilled water bath? I know I got it around here somewhere.:cooldevil:
