When my regulator bit the dust and I bought a new one, I decided to move it out of the false tank shelter and under the front forks. I never understood why it's crammed into the enclosed area with all of the heat there and I was also tired of the tank getting hot under my left knee. I cannot take credit for this idea as I saw it someplace else, but I moved it under the front forks and mounted it onto the metal plate that resides there. I did have to solder extensions on all of the wires, but it was a fairly straight forward job and now the regulator is in the open airflow and running cool. I'm not worried about the rain as the regulator is sealed and potted and all of the solder connections are heat shrinked and then wrapped just like the original harness. So far so good. I just thought I would share

What a good idea. Thank you! Not to mention you finally found a use for that piece of metal other than you cut you when you try to stick you hand up there.
