I have installed a alarm combined with a remotestarter. I have connected it so the alarm works well and with the remotestarter I can start and stop the engine. But only when the key is in on or off position. When the key is in the steeringlock position the remotestarter will crank the engine but there is no power to the ignition. All depends on I suggest that when the key is in the steeringlock position it shortens the ignition.

So what I want to know is where on the bike, exept under the steeringlock, I can find the cables, What color does the cables that shortens the ignition have.

The wiringdiagram in the Clymer handbook does not give me any help.

Anyone who can solve my problem?

I'll have a look at my Honda manual later on (this is the GL1800, isn't it).

Thomas, also is your bike a US model or a European one? The ignitions are different on both and the Honda manual only covers the USA ones as far as I can see.

Hello

I live in Sweden and my speedometer is in km/hr so it must be a European version.

I'll check it tonight Thomas, but my feeling is that yours is the European one that has the coded ignition key and HSS system. I don't think your remote starter will work on this bike without the key being left in the ignition. The HSS prevents the bike starting without the key in the ignition.

Thomas, I think what Ted meant is that the remote will not start the engine without the key, it will just crank the engine over. I looked at this idea before andthe first question the alarm guy asked me was did I have HSS on my Wing. He told me that his system (Meta) remote starter won't start a bike with the HSS.

Hello!

A chain isn´t stronger than its weakest link. The weakest link in the HSS system is thatthe HSS-systemelectrically either shortcut the ignition or just do a cut off in the ignitioncable. What I´m asking for is just that cable. If it shortcut - I will just cut off the cable and if it cut off the ignitioncable I will do a bypass.

Thomas, you can test it from the ignition plug. The plug is under the right side pocket. It's a 4p white one and is just behind and above where the heated grip controller would be.
The main power lead there is the red one. You can loop this to each of the other output wires and check your starter button. Remember that this is taken from the wiring diagram for the US models, Honda don't supply a diagram for the HSS coded models for obvious reasons. Sothe plug on yours might have extra wires, but the red one will still be the power wire because that's what Honda always do.The HSS ones have a chip in the key and this completes the circuit on European bikes, but I don't see why you can't bypass that one as well.
