I have a beautiful 1982 GL 1100 wineberry in color. Its naked and low miles and did I mention beautiful. I love it but all I hear is engine noise and I want exhaust noise. Can the baffles be pulled without a lot of problems. What should I do?

Thanks,

instead of trying to get at the baffles (and I bet it would be a real chore.... try picking up some HD sportster 1200 oem mufflers on fleabay.... the owners usually pull of the oem's and replace them and they go cheap on fleabay

You can rem them out but the loss of back pressure requires rejetting if you want to keep peak performance.

"also lets you reach oil filter and drain plug without removing header"

Not true, I pulled the silencers on mine, a huge chore by the way, mine were rusty to start with and I ended up losing half the tip, but put chrome tips on and it looks better and sounds good and there is no backpressure issues.

I think the main mufflers handle the back pressure and the crossover pipe provide the equalization so re-jetting is not needed.

Thanks for the info. That is what I suspected would be the case. My 82 wing is practcally in mint condition. It only has 18k miles on it. Don't get me wrong I love the fact that it is a stock GL 1100. The only thing extra on it is my windshirld and a nice coffe mug holder. I have bags and truck for when I need to travel, but most of the time I don't use them. I just want more noise (Music)! How do I add a picture of my ride to this site?
