I am coming up on 1 year of ownership of 2007 GL1800. While I have adjusted to the size of bike, how and where to squeeze, it has not been uneventful. I have racked up a few dings, nicks, and scuffs. Nothing major. But if I decide to re paint whole bike? Maybe add some personality to the paint, where is a good shop to paint motorcycles in LA area? Do I need to disassemble Nike first for better quality?

I'm not familiar with repaint outfits anywhere.
Only outfit I used only once was Earl Schieb.
(quote) "RIGHT, I'll paint any car for $19.95" (/eq) OOPS, was $29.95

ANYWAYS. . .
Dissemble yes "IF" you plan on a good resale price.
.
If not, SOME have used rattle can paint. In the right hands it can do a wonderful job.

Earl Schieb still in business? Thought business went under after he passed?

What about custom paint job? Any referrals? Anyone?

You should have A LOT of options in the LA area. Disassembly is best btw. There used to be a shop out there called Dan's Bug Squirt. By the name I'm sure you can tell his specialty was VW's, but he was dang good with a paint gun. Not sure if he's still around though. Heard rumors he was moving to Florida. Like I said though, there must be hundreds if not thousands of paint shops in the LA area and as long you take it in broken apart, I would think any shop would squirt it for ya.

LOL, I had to do a search on this.
San Diego - http://earlscheib-sandiego.com/
LA - http://earlscheiblosangeles.com/
I'm sure one is near you.

One odd way of finding a painter, ask the older kids. They might turn you onto a graffiti artist, some are REALLY talented.
Who knows, if the kid signs his work, someday your paint job might be worth more than the bike.

thats a great idea!

I think the price of earl schieb's paint job is related to how old you are, lol as time passed by inflation came into the commercials.
