Just replaced the two crumbled up filters today. They sure get neglected and I am glad that someone had mentioned these before.
Thank you all for a great forum !

Good deal! Better now than after you have a problem.
I cheated and made mine out of the excess foam from my tunnel filters.

Me too. I had some from work and it works great. The other one, I believe its the cruise filter, I had a filter from and old vacumn I had thrown away and I cut a piece of it to shape and ITS working great. Bunch of cheap bastages. I belonged to a cheapskate riders board some time ago for guys who was tied of paying the long buck for stuff for our VTX's. Haven't visited there in a long time. http://crapmods.com/phpBB3/ Good folks there. Great ideas too.

How difficult was it to get to them?
Not difficult, just time-consuming, about 1-hour to remove the tupperware, and 2-seconds for the filters themselves.

Rough steps, to access filters:
-Remove front cover (in front of radiator)
-Remove both dash pockets
-Remove lower front cowl
-Remove both side radiator covers
-Remove both side fairings (left side holds cb, rt side holds air shock controls)
-Now both sub-carb and cruise filters are easily accesible.
