Yes there is something available
It might be of advantage to use a marine type radio they may be a little more water tight than an auto model but my friend has this in his 86 Interstae and he has a cover he sticks over it with velcro in case of heavy downpour and he uses a regular auto radio.

That should work ok for you.
I will ask my friend what radio he used but it was just a standard auto radio but it did seem to be a little shorter than some.
He is in Illinois driving and wont be home for a few days, I shall ask him when he gets home I shall get him to take a pic of his. There is also a hinged cover available for the radio but I had one on my 84 and found it to be a Pain in the buttock

Yes that was one of my pet peeves when I had the radio in my interstate.
I did come up with an idea that might help this but I got rid of the bike and bought an Aspy before I could try it out.
The idea consisted of a relay with one side having a resister or variable pot and controled by an on\off switch. It would give a high\Low volume which could be adjusted. Like I said I never tried it but cant see why it wouldnt work, might be cheaper than buying an Aspy
