On a 1981 GL1100 when you replace the starter switch I mean the right control unit do you need to unhook the throttle cables from the carbs.
I'm sure some of you have done this already. I noticed sometimes my headlight dosen't come on then when I wiggle the start button it comes on. Pulling the throttle cables is a pain so I don't want to do it unless I have to.
So first I am going to autozone and get some contact cleaner maybe that will do the trick.
Thanks for any info:)

Under the shelter there is an adjuster for the throttle cables. If you shorten it you should have enough slack to disconnect the cables at the grip. You might have to remove the shelter and airbox to get at the adjuster.
