Tire Wheel Plant Fuel tank Automotive fuel system

Admittedly I was nervous like a kid with the training wheels off as this is my first tourer. I used to test ride GWs back in the 90's as a dealer tech but it seems like ages ago (which it is).
What a nice bike! Super civilized engine note and power delivery.

Once rolling the size seems to shrink. On the freeway the speedometer is way way off calibration, said 86 mph when it felt like 70. Did I say the engine is quiet? It's quiet. Passing is no problem at all and it's nice to do it without cop attracting theatrics.

One thing I might need to address is either the front tire or head bearings. When leaned over it feels "loose" and doesn't want to hold its line.

Anyhow I am more than happy with the purchase and the time spent getting it back into running order after 7 years since last registration. It was worth it. The paint and chrome polished up nicely too. Previous owner left the original Aspencade nylon luggage bags, tool bag, and tire inflation hose in the saddlebags, much appreciated.
Anyway just thought I'd share my experience.

Surprisingly the windshield isn't tall enough, the noise and buffeting at the top of the helmet is bad. I'll hate to replace it seeing how clear it is. Has anyone used an extension like this? Does it distract or interfere with vision? Fall off?

my windshield is adjusted correctly, and my wings have been gone for some time. with my 3/4 helmet, there is zero buffeting on a normal day, minumum if its super windy from a 10 or 2 oclock angle. but! my modular was so noisy, and shook my head all the time! sukked big.
as to the loose feel in curves, mine the same way, bike wants to fall over drunk all the time. head bearings are fine, as well as everything else. if you ride faster, and hit every apex, it will act right.
peace

The windshield originally came with so extensions on the sides. It looks pretty tall, can you see over the top of it?
Yes can see just over the top I had it off to repair the po's drop damage at the right lower corner, it had broken two pieces off. Two part gorilla glue epoxy and a long cure fixed it up. It's a Slipstreamer, didn't measure or get any model info before reinstalling. These side extensions from the original were in the trunk. I'm mulling over polishing or cutting new ones from a sheet of hardware store plexiglass. PO had made one new, wish there were two.

Edit: Two are new one is just dinged up from sliding around with no protection and should clean up.
And, what kind of tires are those?
I admit not looking at the date code because I didn't want to know, the tires are pristine without a single dry rot crack. Now that you pushed me into the right direction tires are at the top of the list.

First, What a great looking bike. It is like my first GL1200.
second; you might try adjusting the air pressure in the front and rear suspension. It will change the steering geometry and may solve your cornering problem.
