My ride buddy has no reverse on his '98 SE 1500. We used schematic and checked fuses and reverse switch but no luck. We do not get the reverse dash light when lever is pulled. Anyone else had this problem and what fixed it?

Any help would be appreciated for sure!!!!!!!!!! Thanks, ******

You did the basics, right?

1) Make sure he's in neutral

2) The reverse lever is in the up position, AND properly adjusted

3) Side stand is up

4) 5A fuse on the left side of the battery is good, as is the reverse fuse 65A, under the seat.
Hey Mike,

Good to hear from you. Hope things are going well. We did all the above and engine was running too. We adjusted the cables per the manual and that seems good too. Do you know if the '88 to '92 models have the same reverse setup as '98? We've got a big regular service manual that might be handy.
Should we start checking pins for + or - going into the big control unit under the trunk? Thanks again, Wayne

Does the reverse light come on momentarily when the key is turned on? Does the headlight go off or stay on when the reverse lever is up and the start switch pushed?
Hi Dave,

The little "R" light does come on, then go off like it should. We'll have to check on the headlight. What should it do and what is indicated then? Thanks for help, Wayne
