I am using only the engine from a GL1500 Aspencade
1985 for a hobby project.

I need to re-wire the engine to by-pass the safety switches.

Please advise on how I can do this.

Uh, he said he is "Using Engine Only". Not a 1500 bike.

If you really want to bypass all of the safety switches because you are using the engine in a different frame, it is not too hard to do.

PM me your email address and I will forward the documentation to do just that.

Basically it is rewiring to go from the battery (+) terminal through your new "Ignition Switch" through a fuse, and then to terminal #2 of the ECM.

1985 was GL1200 era. Clarify us know which engine you have, 1200 or 1500 so we can help.

all he wants to do is bypass all of the switches.
He is not using the bike frame, so referencing all of that is meaningless for him.

I emailed him a hand drawn sketch and chapter 2 of the ETM

I did see that he was talkin about bypassing "all" safety switches... but there are cases where bypass is not possible to retain the reverse function, or to have the bike shut-off, etc. (example, bypassing the reverse switch would disable either reverse or the starter-crank; similar with the Reverse lever switch...)

The frame references were included sinc identifying wire locations in a 3-dimentional harness is a bit tough wihout some reference. Having moved engines between platfoms myself, there's always some recollection of "where was that" on the.donor bike.

Guess I just suck at this then, eh?
