My 1984 GL1200A is all rigged with the factory intercom / stereo / cb units and I now wish to acquire the headsets / microphone pieces. Can anyone recommend a make / model that will allow me to simply plug in to the existing plugs?

Well the J&Ms are the most well known, but Edsets are probably even better and cost less as well. Great sound from Edsets and no wind noise either.

I just got headsets on ebay for my 84 Asp. I get the idea that anything with a 5 pin lower cord will work. I got a chatterbox: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2489683906&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AITfor $52 that works fine. I have a J&M on the way: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2489993805&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AITwhich I got for $46 and should be a much better unit. Both came with the five pin lower cord. You can email J&M on their website http://www.jmcorp.com/ to find out what lower cord you need to get if you find a headset without the lower cord. Lower cords come up on ebay separately from time to time. When I receive the second headset, I will report if there are any problems with having two different brands.

Ended up buying a Chatterbox through e-bay. Cost me about $47 Cdn including delivery. As the wife and I were only seeking rider / passenger communication, we're hoping the unit will serve that purpose.
