Riding to California soon. I plan to start out anytime before the 30th, health and weather permitting.

Starting about the center of MO/AR state line and riding to I40 then follow I40 across most the way, though I may ride side roads at times.

Not sure where I will pick up I40 yet as from where I will be starting out I have about 3 equal options.
I may ride through Branson MO on to near Tulsa OK and drop down from there.
I might ride through Eureka Springs AR and either back roads to OK OK or drop down and catch I40 in AR. just before OK.

I don't have much for plans ( as usual for me ) and will just play the trip as it flows. I'm not in a big rush to get there so probably won't ride to hard and may make a couple stops. I'm not planning to do much for sight seeing though, just ride to CA to get there, but if anyone wants to hookup and ride a bit I might take time to do that.

So far my only planned stops are somewhere around Albuquerque, NM. probably and either Las Vegas NV or Laughlin, NV.

Only real reason for stopping in Laughlin is the Harra's casino hotel is $20 and I can probably get it for about $15 and it's on the way. If I can find a deal like that in Vegas I'll probably go there since I never been to Vegas yet and it only adds about 50 miles to the trip.

Other than that I don't have much else planned yet, but it will be few days or a week before I head out so I may plan something.
I will probably spend a night somewhere in OK or TX since Albuqurque NM is near 1000 mile and I don't feel much like doing an Iron butt ride right now LOL

:raspberry:

I'm taking 1,2,3,5 but may return with 1,2,3,4,5, if all goes well.

Don't got a naked 88 but later maybe I'll have a naked 99

The 88 is the one with broken gear so no starter, but reverse does work.

THats right, it had revers but wouldn't start with the starter.....

I thought after the deer incident it was a Naked 88 though........

It would be great if you could leave with 1235 and come back with 12345........

I don't think I could drive without 4......

Not having #4 has not bothered me much but would be nice to fix it.
I will be pulling a trailer back and forth, and not all that small, so I'll see how I do without 4 this trip as I never took a trailer on a trip before.

The way you pack, you'll love a trailer. Keep it simple as if you were packing it on the bike, except you can now pack a little bigger cooler and a change of underwear........

Most of the 1 through Ventura county is either a city street or actually the 101 freeway. There is a very short section above Ventura that is right on the beach. You have to watch out for all of the RVs parked at the beach. But the views from the freeway are pretty nice.

PM me when you get close. Maybe we can meet up.

I'd wide I-40 through OKC with you for a while, but I won't be in the States until 22 May, It sounds like you'll probably be back home by that time though :readit: . Have a great ride though :waving:

I hope to do better this time with the pictures, I may actually stop to take a few instead of snapping them while riding 1 handed LOL
Also I have had a camcorder for over a year now and I used it like 3 times just to see if it worked and never used otherwise. I may try to actually use it some this trip!

Problem with the cam corder is the left side has to be open to see the screen for it to even turn on. Kinda a pain to use while riding.

You need a ram mount for "ONE" of your cameras, you can carry the other around your neck or wherever. But if you have one right there, every few minutes or in your case hours, turn it on and snap a shot.........

I really enjoyed the 3 or 4 pictures you posted last time........ even if it was a week after you got home......

3 or 4? I did dozens.
Oh you mean the good ones!

My problem is I really enjoy the late night rides, though many people don't like to ride over night. No traffic, road all to me, watch the shooting stars, be chased by UFO's, etc...
Well, ok, maybe not the UFO's, but that was only because I rode past Roswell during the day!

You know in some ways there is lot's to see at night also that you can't see in the day. Can't see the mountains and lakes so well at night, and most things don't do well in pictures, but that moonlit road ahead for the next 50 miles or so really looks nice lit by only the full moon once beyond the headlights. And the clouds rising over the mountains lit from behind by the moon is really something to see as well.
Unfortunately it's just things for the memory as it don't show up well in pictures at all most times.

Well still getting things ready. Had storms for about 2 days here and slowed me down allot with several things for 3 days.

I installed my 5gal boat tank on my trailer yesterday. Nice red plastic tank with a carry handle and meant to be transported by vehicle or trailer etc!
Last year I got bad gas near Laughlin, NV and came close to getting stranded in the desert. I'll be ready for it this year LOL
