I am a new member and this is my first post.

I purcahsed this great bike from a new friend and removed the rear wheel following "How to remove a rear wheel" to get the valve stem replaced. Prior to removal, the trunk and saddlebags locked and unlocked perfectly. After reinstalling everything,( or so I thought),the right saddlebag won't lock. Did I miss a step or is there a little part that needs connecting?

Welcome to the forum.
Most times its can't open a bag. When you say can't lock do you mean can't close them shut?
Did you remove both of the bags?
Did you save the post you read on the how to? If you did then copy and paste the address in a reply to this post so we can look it over to see which way you did it.
Patience, an answer will come.

Welcome kbfisherman, I've had quite a few OPP friends who did time in Kakabeka, & we have been through a couple of times on our tours. There is a little clip to reconnect to the bar inside the bags and I have had the catch/latch on the door get moved while the doors have been open, loosen them with a phillips screw driver & re-adjust them might help.

You might have to pull the saddlebag back off… only slightly though.
There's the cable that runs from the 'release levers' under the rear trunk directly to the saddlebag.
The cable to the right trunk has pulled out from it's hole in the saddlebag. It's a push fit and can pop out easily. It'll pop back in just as easily but it's hung up right now. That pulls the release bar and keeps the lid from shutting…. just like your problem now.

Oh yeah…. Welcome!!!!

I had the same problem on my right saddle bag and I found that the cable was not quite routed correctly under the rear storage. I removed the cover under the rear storage trunk and rerouted the cable and it worked as it should. Now every time I remove the saddle bag I have to make sure the cable to that bag is routed in more of a straight run to the bag or it won`t latch. That was my fix, yours may be different though. :baffled:

Did you replace the white plastic clip that attaches to the long release bar inside the bag?
If so did you put it on the right way?

Thanks for the hints. The clip appears to be on ok. The problem is in the key lock. when the key is used saddlebags should lock. The left one does but the right won't lock. The trunk locks.
