Hello ALL, I have been watchin and reading this forum for a few months now ( ther is a lot of good info on here, THANX) and now am stumpped. I have a 76 GL1000 and doin a complete ground up restore. I have already rebuilt brakes, master cylinder, new wheel bearings,ETC. and have torn down the engine. everything looks good inside and mic'd out really good ( engine has 38000 on it but sat for 10 yrs) except for the rings, rod bearings, and main bearing are questionable.Does any body know a good place to get some for resonable price (dealer will kill ya) any info would help. I also have extra 76 and 78parts bikes so if you need anything let me know if I can help. I am not on my PC all the time so it might take a bit to return messages. THANX Tim $ . Might get some Pics if I can figure out whatz up with my camera.

one thing I did find is that Honda color coded their rod and main bearings to compensate for imperfections.(learn somthing new everyday)I have Green, Brown, and Black, talked to a local shop and the mech. there said he would help anyway he can and would copy any info I needed out of the factory tech manual if needed. You can pull codes off the block, crank, and rods to find out which colors and locations, but I was able to see the colors still on bearings. Dealer wants a fortune for bearings, 20.00 per bearing per half, would be 40.00 per journal for mains (x3)and 15.00 per bearinr per half (30.00 per rod (x4) ball park. Depends what colors needed.I will have to look into having the bearings re-coated. Thanxagian for all yor helpI will keep you posted. Tim $
