RM-1100 radio fix for Europe

The frequency steps on my RM-1100 radio in AM-mode are not working in Europe.
I have seen an article for a fix on a forum but cannot find it.
It is about disconnecting two points on a microchip and soldering a bridge between them.
Can someone help me?
