Hello

I'm slowly loosing my mind. I can't find any info on one of my contacts on my Honda GL 1000 from 78.
It's located on the left side on top of the fuel tank. It's a rocker switch.

Can anyone in lighten me of the purpose of this contact????

I will be most grateful.

Best regards

My guess is it's an aftermarket switch. A picture would help us help you.

It was definately added on, it did not come on the bike. Probably to control some added lights.

Thanks John.
It so happens I'm located in the same district in Denmark as the Blacksmith.
Also in Vordingborg, on one of the small Islands馃檪

I purchased my "naked" Goldwing 2 Days before the big pandemic hit Denmark. My Goldwing is an old dream of mine. Now the kids are grown, and now it's time to get air under the wings again 馃槈.

Hello Smeden馃檪

I live at M酶n馃檪

Thanks for your help so far, i have had a quick look at the wiring about a month ago. Didn't follow it to the end because of lack of time.
Now that the "Winther is coming"( not referring to GoT馃榿) i have decided to take the lovely machine out on some free space on my farm to give it an overhaul.
I might take you up on your offer about the help.
It makes sense about some loong gone added lights.
Best regards
Thomas

Makes sense it could be some looping gone added lights馃憤

Best regards
Thomas

I think the Blacksmith is a lot closer to you than I am, since I live in Oklahoma, USA :)

Being next to the temperature gauge... I wonder if it might overide the fan temperature switch.

I would just pull the panel and trace the wires and see where they go. Defiantly aftermarket and not something from Honda.

I also had a '78 GL1000. When I was in USAF stationed in then West Germany - I added a switch to turn off my headlight so as to not blind the gate guards when returning to base. I think '78 was the first year Honda motorcycles had "always-on" headlights.
