While everything is still disassembled for the tank sealing, I've decided to clean up a few things. Over the last couple of days, I've derusted the chrome trim from the mufflers using electrolysis. Both trim pieces had thick rust on the backsides. Once the rust was removed (worked great), I painted the backsides with bar-b-que grill paint. I think that will be fine.

The real question is for the fenders. The topside chrome is great, but the bottom side is rusty. Once they take the electrolysis bath, what should I use to paint or coat the bottom of the fenders? Prime and epoxy paint maybe? I'm open to any suggestions and would like to hear what others have done. Or am I being obsessive about the bottoms of the fenders?

Badger,

Thank you for your suggestion! After spraying the bottom of the fenders with rusty metal primer, I hit it with a spraybomb of Duplicolor truck bedliner. It looks great!

Thank you for a great idea.
