I did similar repair to latch on trunk lid... Used JB-Weld to encapuslate the broken latch and mating surface, after the surfaces had been thoughougly roughed up with a dremel tool. It looks fugly, but works.
Note that the latch has to be Aligned prior to bonding it, otherwise the trunk may not latch correctly... You might try tack-bonding it first, to verify it works, prior to making it permanent.
