Hello all,

new to the forums, HI to all look forward to getting to know you all. I just bought a honda Goldwing 82 GL1100. The base modle. Love the bike had to replace the front pads and tire. MY next to concern our saddlebag and saddlebag mounts.

Will the Saddle bag mounts from an 82 Interstate model fit on my bike? And if so direct bolt on? And then would the bags fit on my bike?

I have called around to local dealers and they don't have any mounts that work so that I could buy a universal bags.

I have the sissy bar and the rear bumper I guess they call it on the bike. I would love the bags to make my travels... easy.

From 80 to 83 should work on your bike for saddle bags and rails.

If not, I'm sure someone will be along shortly to correct me!:cooldevil:

Before the bags , if you don't know the history of the bike, I would do the belt first because if they brake, the bags will be a mood point. NW40 is right 80 thru 83 all the same and bags will fit all.

80 through 82 should work, the 83 left saddlebag mount has a bumpout on the bottom stay near the rear brake caliper. It may or may not work. Never tried it.

Yeah The took care only to do oil changes, but I am not sure if he ever flushed the radiator or the brake fluid. So you recommend basic maitenance first?

I am a decent to good mechanic, work on diesel most. Would the timing belt be something I could do myslef?

I read one tutorial, buy if you have one the covers the 82 that would be good.

The bike has 72000 miles, normal wear and tear, runs great and shift great. any other comments would be great... Things to check. I am glad i check the front pads it was almost metal on metal.
