I'm planning on a long trip (a couple thousand kilometres) on the Wing this summer. The bike has started to develop sounds, nothing major sounding but creaks and such that weren't there before. It has 89,000 km on it and the bike is a 1984. Should I get a safety check on the bike? I have a friend from this site; maybe I can ask him to take it for a ride and see what he thinks. I'm not mechanically minded so can't do the safety check myself. Thoughts??? I'd hate for something to happen on the road.
