Ifyou are not mechanically minded, as you state, then I would have it checked out. There are never any guarantees that you won't have problems on the road, and the older the vehicle the higher the likelihood of it occurring, generally, but you should do what you can to take care of any known problems prior to leaving on a trip to lessen the chances. JMHO
