OK all, what is on the agenda for this M&G the area is not known for it's fine twisting roads and great mountain like scenery so long rides might be a bit boring

Brunswick itself is not much to see

However St Simons Island is very nice and has some nice little shops at the pier. there are some historic sites to visit on the Island for those interested

there are some nice places to have lunch that can accomodate a large crowd if needed

Jeykll Island is nice but limited to a little area of shops at the country club and a few historic sites, other than that you have the pier and beach,

there is a leisure horseback ride along the beach if anyone wanted to do that

there is a toll to get on Jeykll Island of 6.00 per bike

If we can get some input as to what everyone would like to do I can try to make some arrangements
The wife and I are always looking for a reason to ride to the Island

Thanks AJ1500!

The goal is to get members together from both forums as most of them are members of both forums.

This is the first SE M&G and we want to move it around the SE. We tried to get a place for a M&G in St. Simons Island hut everyone wanted way to much money which wasn't good for the people attending. This is the reason we are staying somewhere more affordable and riding to St. Simons Island. If you are local to the area, we would love to have your help!!!!

Yep I'm local. I lived on the Island for a couple years. we go down quite often. most of time we ride over to Jeykll to fish
we like the campground on Jeykll too.
St Simons doesn't really have any facilities at a decent price, their main hotels are on the beach and a bit on $$$ side. but they do have some eateries that can handle a crowd. I can try to work out something for parking that can be reserved for us
as it gets closer and you get a better head count the wife and I can take a ride down and talk with a couple of them
being able to park along the the main strip is challenging for anything more than 2 bikes at a time
very busy little downtown strip, even in the cold months

AJ1500,

Would you check to see if the eateries can accommodate someone with shellfish allergies ?

Thanks,

as long as it's only an issue if you eat it I can answer that already,,
Yes. most of them can easily handle that. sometimes when when stop in for lunch we don't have anything seafood related.
I will keep that in mind when we go down to try to set something up for us.
Also inside or outside dining or both. all that have the outside seating allow dogs. I know we always have at least one of ours with us so we pick the outside seating, but I know not everyone is OK with that. there are 4 main places I know of that are nice that could handle a large group and have both inside and outside seating. prices range from very affordable to a bit high. all have real good food and all offer both inside and outside seating.

Yep, so far the eating is the problem. I haven't had a problem with it being at the same table, I just make my server aware of my allergy and I do carry an epi-pen, just in case.

Inside or outside dining is not an issue, whatever the majority decide is fine.

I just booked our room, it looks as though the entire block that was reserved has been taken
only one room with doubles left. if I understand it correctly that is 16 rooms taken
because we have a pet, I have to call them directly and see if we are going to be put in a different room
just confirmed, all the rooms in our group are considered pet friendly

There is a Jazz and Art Festival on Saturday, lots of antique dealers and some great food.

Also, going to be a little chilly so bring something (or someone) warm :)
