Shipping disaster

So my move to Montana has been entirely too uneventful.....We got a new van ( a honda odyssey touring, which is sweet!), got all of our stuff with nothing broken, and no more seizures with the twins. We moved into our house on base Monday, which has a BIG garage that I am quite happy with. The truck to drop off our 10 crates of household goods showed up early with extra guys to help unload it. SWEET!! The final crate contains my wing. Drained of oil, fuel, and coolant. Stripped of all body work (I packed that myself). Wrapped ever so gently in bubble wrap....don't ask me.....

I begin to get concerned when I see foot prints all over the end of the box, like the stood it on end. The movers wrestle with the crate to get it open, and begin to remove packing material.

My stomach sank. I see one of the rear tie downs on the floor of the crate, broken. The bike broke both rear tie downs and shifted the front wheel, cranked to the right, into the corner of the box. The front tie downs held, but only just so.... The bike was basically laying on the crash bars on it's side. My worst fear.......

After getting it down out of the truck, everything seems to be in order. I need to go over it a little closer tomorrow and double check everything, but it looks to be okay.

Here is the best part though. I had to run it dry on fuel before I shipped it. I put fuel in, filed the oil with a new filter, filled the coolant, hooked the gel battery back up, choked it, and flipped the starter. It fired and set off to an idle immediately! 90K+ miles and a second trip across the ocean, and this thing did not miss a beat.

I LOVE MY WING!!

Now to just get all the body work back on and get it back on the road.....
