You gotta go with Progressive shocks, Period. Those orig. Showa's are junk, even rebuilt! Period, end of story! 20 lbs air, in rear. 2-up, no bottoming, and proper rebound, like never before.

They got me 190,000 k I find them fine. I installed Progressives springs in the front forks and never noticed any difference at all.

Riding dbbl, with a trailer, was my problem. Course our weights combined may have something to do with it. I haven't detected a need to change the front. Air pressure is a plenty, and heavier oil will cure , (modify) the rebound

I really like the Progressive 416s in the rear, and the springs in the front. I use no air in the front with ATF and it behaves fine solo or double. Handles better in the curves too.
