How on earth does this come off? 🤪
There doesn't appear to be anything attaching this horrible little panel on to the bike other than stubbornness (maybe voodoo?)!

Looks like you might have to loosen the exhaust, or get medieval on it.

I'm not taking the exhaust off I did try some rather forceful jiggling but it didn't budge

Take a look at this diagram. There appears to be two fasteners that hold it on.

Seriously, as much as I adore the bike, working on it is a proper PITA
