Hello all, glad I found this forum. I just bought a nice GL1500 with low mileage. My question is; my signal lights don't stay on very long, about 150 ft and go off. I have to keep on resetting them until I make the turn. Is this the way they normally operate or is something wrong? Thanks.

Not sure on 1500s but 1800s flash 10 times when moving straight unless stopped or moving slow then they cancel after the turn is complete.

that's kinda typical for 1500's. the signal module gets speed input info and will cancel turn signals unfortunately earier than prefered. about 8-9 flashes for me, sooner if there is a lane change since steering input will also cancel after a turn.

Nice to be on a forum that is not loaded with non related solicitation.

Thanks dave for the reply and Bill for the welcome.

If you are going faster than 30 MPH (50 KPH) the turn signals cancel after 8 flashes. If you are going slower than these speeds then the signal is cancelled by steering angle and bank angle from making a turn. 1200's and 1500's are both like this. I can't say for the other models.

Theindicators on my Australian Spec 1500 Sey will stay on constantly when stopped attraffic lights and the like, otherwise like eveyone else they cancel after about 10 flashes or so, or else when banking over. It's something we've all got used too and you will also.

Happy riding and welcome to the forum.

Yeah it's a fairly common problem for the 1500s .I think you can dis-able the self cancel feature but I usually just hit the turn signal again.

Mine will also turn off after 8-10 flashes while moving. But mine will only turn off when I make a right turn banking and will not turn its self off after a left turn bank. I have to press it to turn it off. I just got used to it.

My VTX does not have cancelling turn signals and it drives me nuts because I leave them on for miles. Even if they turn off sooner than you would like it beats having them on for miles. I don't understand why Honda did not put cancelling turn signals on the VTX.

Amen to that.

I found on mine that the signal will also stay on if I keep the brakes on as well. So in a long stretch of slow down, I just keep the brakes slightly depressed - enough to slow, and enough to keep the signal going.
