Typical Exhaust Gas Temperatures on gasoline engines run around 1000F at the port. The unusual thing here is the difference. The air cut off valve doesn't come into play at a constant speed as far as I know so I doubt that's it. With the difference in EGT, I'd suspect the cool side has a carb problem.
