I think. Please confirm that for me if you would. My question is: Is that really a big deal? My intention with this bike is NOT to restore it. I just want to fix her up enough to get her rolling down the road again, and then procede to ride the crap out of it.

My limited research indicates that the bike may suffer a minute performance loss with these carbs. Will it NOT feel like a 1000cc bike? Please help a rookie, and thanks in advance.

That is an 1100 carb set. Once properly cleaned and adjusted the bike should run fine barring other problems.
You also need good compression and healthy spark/ignition. If you have no history of the bike, please consider replacing the timing belts. A belt failure can cause an expensice repair.

1100 carbs work well on a 1000 and you probably couldn't tell the difference in performance by seat of the pants.

I think Mike Nixon's Motorcycleproject.com site has some good info on living with the gl1100 carbs. He recommends disabling the air cut valves on each. A great cost-saving step. Those carbs have accelerator pump, so make sure the passages and nozzles for them are clean or you loose their main advantage over gl1000 carbs. They have diaphragms instead of vacuum pistons, which are their weakness. Also many have press-in jets, but there are several ways to pull them including tapping for a screw or using a self-threading screw like a sheet (drywall) rock screw.

1100 carbs do not have diaphragms, they have pistons just like the 1000 carbs. 1200 & 1500 carbs have diaphragm slides.
