OK so mid Cal has had a meet & greet & ride, so its time we SoCal Goldwing riders get a gathering going. Lets have some ideas on times/dates and points of interest. I have met a few locally in San Diego and Orange county and they are interested in getting one going down here while the weather is holding.

I would love to go back out to Oceanside as my son lives in San Marcos. Uh, he does when Siemens allows him to be home.

He left Atlanta this morning on an airplane to somewhere..
Think he said Cinncinati

Come on out John. Set a time when you'll be in the area. Ya we can invite AZ riders too if they want some ocean time, get some real beach sand.

I'm in, and my backyard is available for BBQ/Firepit/sit around a tell lies, plus a few tents if needed. Motel is two blocks away.

Plus I am just a block away from Newday777.

Better yet I need moto-escort riders for the Oceanside Ironman Triathlon on March 31st. Perhaps we could combine a BBQ the night before, or a dinner afterwards?

................................

The Oceanside Triathlon is coming up on March 31st. and we are looking for 18 to 20 motorcycles (and their riders) to work the cycling portion of the race again this year.

The event will require proof of insurance and registration, a full motorcycle license and a reflective vest, along with of course a DOT approved helmet, over the ankle boots, long pants, sleeves, and full-fingered gloves. The motorcycle must also be in good serviceable condition (no loud pipes please) with a pre-ride inspection to check on tire tread, break pad wear, lights, and serviceability ect. for everyone's safety during the event.

There will also be a mandatory pre-ride of the course with some advance instruction for all riders on Saturday the 24th of March meeting at the boat ramp in Oceanside Harbor at 8.00am. (1380 N Pacific St, Oceanside, CA 92054)

All riders will be given a $50.00 gas card on the day of the event to cover their gas and vehicle costs.

A $1000.00 donation will be made by the Triathlon organization to Ride for Kids/The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation
http://www.pbtfus.org/rideforkids/

Anyone who would prefer can donate the gas cards to military families in need, but this will be strictly on a voluntary basis, no obligation to do so should be felt by any of the riders.

For those of you who have done this in the past you are aware of the fun we have whilst riding in this event as we provide the necessary transportation of the Camera crews, the Marshals, and press members, through the beautiful seldom seen areas throughout the back of Camp Pendleton. (I am the one who has been riding the GL1200 for the past 8 years.)

If you are available on these dates, and would like to volunteer for this years event, please contact me asap so I can create the list of riders for the staff, and for the base security.

Feel free to forward this invite and my email address to any other riders you think may be interested.

Thank you very much

The plan is to drive Big Bird down to Marina Del Ray (Son's apt.)from Utah on 2-18th and then to Santa Ana on the 19th for a masters track meet. Might be doable if location is close. If not, have a great time if it happens.

Santa Ana is @ 45min-2 hrs depending on traffic. Marina Del Rey is 1hr 43 min, 94 miles according to maps on my phone(further north from here)
I lived in Santa Clara UT in 1981-82.

I still have three open spots for the Triathlon Escort that I need to fill in the next couple of days. If you like you can always camp out in the backyard with a fire pit/BBQ (I will provide the tents and air mattress ect.)
Date is the 31st. of March and we will give you a $50.00 gas card too.
pre-ride is this Saturday the 24th. at 8.00am.
