i have a completely custom honda cb 750 from the 70's era. the lowers are worn to the point they well not hold seals. i have heard that a GL front end and some others wioll match up. I know sprtster front end s will match up.
any suggestions as to years makes and models that might fit this bike, preferably something with dual discs, or a spoked wheel to keep the look?
i considered an 80's but most of them are bigger, or have mag wheels. i also looked at a suzuki savage front end but thawould be off a 650.
this bike has won numerous trophies, so its kinda important to keep it looking old school.
we being somewhat stupid, my scanner dosen't work on my multi machine, in the last move my camera came up missing from one house to the other, and i have no pictures of the bike on the computer. pretty patetic.
suffice it ti say, in 1987, i took fourth place in the bike show at sturgis in the 750 class. i beat out a couple of indians, some other hondas, fourth out of about 20 entries. i have had the bike since 1983 and have collected over 20 awards including the AMA district run in Utah in two different catagories. its a real nice bike, fits me like a glove, really, like a part of my body. it stands about 18-22 inches off the ground at the seat, over 8' in length, and is one of the few true choppers with a swing arm. currently down for paint or powder, rings and gaskets, and of course that nasty front end.
A GL1000 should be a direct bolt on if you use the triple tree. If your keeping the duel disk then you also need the master cylinder for the breaks. There are some guys on forums.sohc4.net that have done the conversion.
